On Wednesday 17th of April, Dutch Cycling Embassy received an academic delegation from Bartin University (Turkey), as part of a week-long study visit. Prof. Dr. Erdoğan Atmiş and his colleague dr. Mustafa Artar visited our office in Delft to exchange knowledge and share experiences in the context of cycling promotion.
Various topics that were discussed during this meeting relate to the social history of the Dutch cycling culture. Among them were themes such as cycling with regard to various focus groups such as children and women. Furthermore, the Turkish delegation shared their thoughts and experiences on various projects and events in the local context and the opportunities and challenges that exist in this regard. We are pleased to know that our interactive meeting has contributed to a better understanding of both cycling cultures and initiatives in Turkey and the Netherlands. We wish the Bartin University team all the best in the pursuit of their work and we look forward hearing about their cycling related research and initiatives in the future!
