Canberra #DutchCycling Photo Exhibition

The "Cycling in the Netherlands" exhibition runs all month at the National Arboretum in Canberra.

On July 2nd, Netherlands Ambassador to Australia Marion Derckx launched the photo exhibition ‘Cycling in the Netherlands’ at the official opening of Warm Trees at the National Arboretum in Canberra. The photographs—provided by the Dutch Cycling Embassy—offer a unique insight on the possibilities and benefits of cycling in the Netherlands.

Besides the Ambassador, Australian Capital Territory Chief Minister Andrew Barr and Rosemary Dupont from Pedal Power spoke about their enthusiasm for Warm Trees and cycling. Chair of the Friends of the National Arboretum Jocelyn Plovits shed light on all the hard work put in by countless volunteers. Ambassador Derckx thanked her for getting knitters from around Australia and overseas to contribute their scarves and tulips for this year’s Warm Trees display. At the end, Dutch School Abeltje performed a dance routine.

During the whole month of July, you can enjoy the beautiful display of decorated bicycle wheels and orange and tulip themed scarfs wrapped around the trees. You can also see the photo exhibition, a giant cargo bike knitted installation and take part in numerous workshops organised by Pedal Power ACT, the Abeltje Dutch School, and others.
